There are numerous ways to get busted if you're an in-the-closet tranny. This page presents some ideas for keeping your two lives separate.

Body hair
Some people will probably notice if all of a sudden you lose all of your body hair. For legs, you may be able to clipper it back slowly so you don't go from hairy to hairless in one jump. Start with a #5 guard on the clippers, and every couple of weeks clipper with the next smallest guard until they're short enough to shave.

For my arms, I clipper using a #1 guard. This makes them short enough to be vaguely femme, without actually being hairless. If you look closely it looks a bit odd because all the hairs are the same length and have cut-off ends instead of narrow pointed tips, but only one person has ever queried this.

Obviously, if you're in an intimate relationship you're not going to be able to do very much of this...

Nails
Nail polish can be difficult to remove. Although I prefer non-acetone nail polish remover (NPR), it can sometimes be ineffective. For stubborn polish, I keep some full-strength acetone NPR handy. A cotton bud can be used to get right down into the edge of the nail to remove the last bits. If, like me, you put glitter on as well, check your nails in the light to see that it's all gone too.

Out in the car

Having said that, in the last two years I have only attracted obvious attention twice that I'm aware of while out in the car, both times while stopped at traffic lights. If you have the opportunity, one way to get around this is to stop slightly between two cars. Say you are driving the red car. Try to stay in the right lane, so the only thing next to you is oncoming traffice. If you pull up slightly between the two cars on the left you're slightly out of the field of view of the blue car's driver (blue arc), so they can't look at you without turning their head a fair way around. While you're in the field of view of the green car (green arc), all they can see is a three-quarter view of you from behind, and not your face. While this isn't a guaranteed method, I have found I do feel much less exposed while out and about.
