Home Glossary Disclaimer Site map Contact me	BDSM (bondage, dominance, sadism, & masochism) clubs are clubs where people gather for the purposes of dominance and submission. It should be stressed that a BDSM or fetish club or party is not (necessarily) a sex club; inclusion on this page does not imply any level of sexuality. Bookings are sometimes required, and you may be given a telephone number to call on the day of the party to get the location.The location descriptions given below are vague; some parties are held in private houses, some move to a different location each time, and others are held in permanent premises such as nightclubs on an off-night. There seem to be three main BDSM parties in Melbourne. Hush Now's Stepping Out function is great for beginners (I have not sampled any of their other parties), while Purgatory and Abode's Confessional/Sinful night are slightly more involved. I recommend that beginners start with Hush Now: Stepping Out and then move onto Purgatory or Abode for more advanced play. Many other venues and events (such as the Saints & Sinners Ball) offer some bondage activities as an add-on to their other attractions, but it is not the principal focus. Bear in mind that BDSM can be a dangerous activity, and you should not play with equipment you're not absolutely sure how to use. For example, several venues seem to have guidelines on the use of single-tail whips, which are dangerous and can cause quite a bit of damage in unskilled hands. Read more about BDSM safety here. Venue Location Comments Abode: Confessional/Transcend St Kilda Monthly BDSM play party in a nightclub context. There's no obvious organising authority figure for the play as such, so you may need to approach someone who you've seen playing in order to get started if you are a complete beginner. Occasionally, some quite heavy play is demonstrated here; as I pointed out to my mother (yes, really), Abode is not a garden party with club sandwiches and charades. Click here for review. Apparently now in the south-eastern suburbs. Chains Smith St, Fitzroy Monthly socially-oriented fetishy/BDSMy party with a little bit of play. A good place for beginners to go and have a look to see if they can handle being around people in skintight PVC, or for more experienced people to catch up with friends. Probably less ideal for beginners to play, because the nature of the venue means you'd quickly get a sizable audience. Click here for review. The Hellfire Club Sydney The Hellfire Club is a fetish nightclub, where fetish enthusiasts come together once a month to dress up, dance, socialise, watch shows, listen to music and generally party hard. It also serves as an 'entry point' to the fetish scene for those that discover that they too prefer to walk on the wild side, but have no idea where to start. Xtreme Darque Adelaide fetish & BDSM play party in Adelaide Club Hardcore Heaven Sydney Fetish, BDSM and Dance club; 1st of the month at ARQ nightclub, Flinders St, Sydney. Also hardcore private BDSM parties which cater for those who wish to explore their limits and fantasies in an non-judgmental environment Purgatory At Club Gemini, in the northern suburbs Mid-range play makes this a good place to explore beyond the realms of beginners' play, but without getting too heavy.
